Masterclass July 1st · 30 days recording access · 3× live Saturday sessions · Limited to 30 writers
You're working hard, following old rules.
But the publishing industry has changed — and few people can tell you what it actually requires of authors now.
You've rewritten that query letter more times than you can count — and the silence coming back still doesn't tell you what's actually wrong
You're deep in your manuscript telling yourself you'll figure out the marketing once it's done — not knowing that the window to build your audience is open right now and closing with every chapter you finish
You got the publishing deal and then discovered your publisher expected you to arrive with a platform, a marketing plan, and an audience.
Your book is on shelves. It's good — you know it's good. But the sales numbers aren't reflecting that, and you've tried things that haven't moved the needle
You know you need to be on social media but everything about it feels foreign to how you think and create as a writer
You've tried to learn this before and walked away with information — but nothing actually changed
If you recognized yourself anywhere above, you're in the right place. What you need is a clear map from someone who has been inside traditional publishing for years — and who is still walking that path right now.
Author marketing is not a separate career you have to build alongside your writing — it is the connective tissue between the book you wrote and every person whose life it was meant to change. Marketing is now as essential to being a published author as writing the book itself.
The Book Genius Author Marketing Masterclass teaches you a proven system — built by an author for authors — from inside the structure of an active Big 5 marketing campaign. You'll learn how to create the four key assets every author needs, understand and reach your reader, and build a marketing practice that fits inside a writing life.
Writers who complete this program leave with a marketing plan they can act on the next morning. The 30-day guided implementation starts the next day: daily prompts, content strategy, and live video Q&A calls to make sure the information becomes action, not just notes in a notebook.
Leave July with the clarity, language, and confidence to speak about your book in a way that makes agents, publishers, and readers say yes.
Writers who were in the room.
The implementation structure that powers July was tested in June — with 21 writers breaking through their creative blocks to finish a first draft in 30 days. The teaching approach, the daily guided implementation, and the live sessions are the same. Here's what the June writers said.
"Thank you for today's masterclass. I joined from Toronto. You had great information that I think will help me push through writing my first novel. I'm excited. Looking forward to the other masterclasses in July and August."
"OMG!! I'm loving it. I've wanted to write a book for so long that when I saw your post I did a lil dance! I had no idea where or how to start. Thank you for doing this."
"Thank you for the Masterclass yesterday! I'm excited to share about my other books in my book series in my book proposal. Great advice!"
Here's what the marketing system you'll learn creates.
Not theory. Not archived results from a decade ago. An active, documented, ongoing publishing career — built on the same system taught in July.

How This Marketing System
Was Built for Now
Built out of necessity.
I know this system works because I built it out of necessity. I was so excited when I finally typed "The End" on the manuscript for my first novel. I'd overcome impostor syndrome, writer's block, and competing with a grueling work schedule to find the time to write. I loved that I'd written the book I'd been wanting to read. And so I sent out my query letters.
After 12 agent rejections (and some deafening silence), I stopped waiting for permission and started building an author platform that could not be denied. I applied the same marketing framework I had spent a decade using professionally — and turned it on my own book.
The result was 20,000 copies sold in 18 months. Then, I landed my dream literary agent — from a warm referral from one of my readers, not a query letter in a slush pile. And then? My agent secured a pre-emptive four-book deal with HarperCollins — not just for my self-published book, but for every idea I had developed up to that point.
What was one of the deciding factors? Beyond the quality of writing, my agent and my publisher felt confident that they were getting a marketing partner. And the system I developed was one that allowed me to put the quality of writing first, and never compromise my writing schedule for a social media posting schedule.
I've watched this transition happen before. Twice.
Here is what I want you to understand about where this system actually comes from. I knew that authors would have to learn how to market themselves and their books because I have watched this transition happen before. Twice.
In music, I was there when production companies, independent artists, and record labels were able to control their own distribution, promotion, and audience-building efforts — and then, artists had to learn to reach their listeners directly or disappear. I ran the digital marketing agency of record for Lady Gaga's historic Born This Way album at the peak of that transition. Over one million copies sold in the first week.
In cosmetics, I watched brick-and-mortar retail lose its power as the primary path to customers — and saw brands built entirely online, without a single day on a shelf, become household names. I took a cosmetics brand from zero sales to QVC through audience-building alone.
Publishing is in the middle of that same transition right now. The technology has outpaced the institutions. The best practices are no longer sitting with the publishers — they're sitting with the creators who are nimble enough to make rapid changes and respond to the environment. Readers want direct relationships with authors. And publishers know it. That is why they are now asking authors to arrive as marketing partners, not just with manuscripts in hand.
Why this Masterclass. Why now.
I have been inside traditional publishing for five years, working actively with two of the largest publishers in the world on five past marketing campaigns and now two new campaigns for 2027 releases. I know what this transition looks like from the inside — what publishers and agents expect, what is asked of authors, and what is not asked but is best practice anyway.
Since 2018, I have been teaching and working behind the scenes to help usher new voices into the publishing landscape. I think the more good ideas, the better.
So, I built this one-time LIVE Masterclass to give you the map — because very few people who have the inside access to know what publishing actually requires right now also have the marketing background to teach it. And the ability to help you implement. But in July, we'll do both — together.
Everything you need to know.
On July 1st at 6pm ET, you join a live Masterclass evening — four 45-minute sessions taught by Jayne Allen, with breaks for Q&A throughout. The next morning, your 30-day guided implementation begins: daily content prompts, field videos from Jayne filmed inside her own active marketing campaign, and access to the private community. Three times during July — Saturday mornings at noon ET — Jayne hosts live video sessions where you bring your questions, report your progress, and clear whatever is blocking you. Everything is designed to move in one direction: from information to action to a marketing practice that actually fits your life as a writer.
No problem. All sessions are recorded in audio and video and made available to you for 30 days — so you can watch at your own pace, rewatch anything that needs to sink in, or listen like a podcast on your commute. And if questions come up while you're working through the recordings, you have three live Saturday sessions in July to bring them directly to Jayne. You also have access to the private community for a full year, where you can connect with fellow writers and continue the conversation long after July ends.
Yes — and now is actually the best time. Readers are going to be interested not only in what you wrote, but also why you wrote it and how the process was for you. How it changed you, what you sacrificed. This content is invaluable and only exists while you're writing — the questions you're wrestling with, the decisions you're making, the research you're doing — is the most authentic marketing material you will ever have. Authors who build their platform while writing arrive at their query letter with an audience already listening. Authors who wait start from zero. This Masterclass is designed to work alongside your writing, not instead of it.
This course accounts for the fact that many writers and aspiring writers don't have experience or preference for being on camera. The good news is that many options for effective author marketing don't require video at all. We've identified multiple content workflows built specifically for writers who prefer not to be on camera — long-form writing, newsletters, podcasts, and community-based platforms that reward depth over performance. We'll provide options in this course to find the path that fits how you already think and create.
There's nothing more frustrating than investing your time and money in a program that provides information but doesn't give you the change you were looking for. This program is structured to provide the necessary information you'll need quickly and then the structure you'll need to make a real and honest change in implementing this in your life. The program is structured with intention by a working author for authors in a way that puts the writing and the author first, authentically. The Masterclass evening gives you the information. The 30-day guided implementation starts the next morning so you don't leave with just notes in a notebook. And three live Saturday sessions give you somewhere to bring the questions that come up once you're actually doing the work. Information alone doesn't build a skill. This program is designed to make sure you don't just learn it — you practice it.
It's not too early — it's exactly the right time. Building a platform before you have a book isn't just possible, it's the strategy. The authors who land deals and find readers aren't the ones who started marketing after publication. They're the ones who started building while they were still writing. This Masterclass shows you how to start from zero in a way that's manageable, sustainable, and doesn't require you to already be someone.
That feeling almost always comes from thinking about marketing as selling — which it isn't. Marketing, done the way this program teaches it, is storytelling. It's finding the readers who already need your book and making sure they know it exists, but speaking to them authentically. When you reframe it that way — as a service to the reader rather than a performance for the market — the inauthenticity dissolves. Most authors who come in resistant leave feeling like they've finally found a way to talk about their work that actually feels like them.
This is understandable — and the reality is that the publishing landscape now requires marketing as part of the job. This program is specifically built to help you make that time without overwhelm. The workflow you'll build in July is designed around longer-form content you create once and distribute in smaller pieces — so you're not starting from scratch every day. The daily prompts are short. The live sessions are one hour. The Masterclass itself is one evening. And the system is designed so that marketing and writing reinforce each other rather than compete.
Yes. The four key marketing assets, the reader identification work, and the platform strategy in this program apply across fiction, nonfiction, memoir, literary, commercial, self-published, and traditionally published books. The specific platforms and content formats you choose will differ — and the program accounts for that — but the underlying system is universal.
The program doesn't assume any technical background. The tools covered are chosen specifically for authors, not marketers — accessible, low-cost, and learnable quickly. And if something isn't clear, the three live Saturday sessions are exactly the place to bring that question.
This Masterclass will not be
taught again until 2027.
