The Book Genius Summer Writing Blockbuster

This is for you if —

Procrastination

You have an idea — maybe a great one — but you haven't started, or you started and stalled. Now the idea just sits there waiting in the back of your mind.

Discouragement

Maybe you've written something — but it didn't sell the way you hoped, and you're not sure what went wrong or whether to keep going.

Competing Priorities

Life keeps pulling your attention away. The dog. The kids. The job. Everything is loud and competing, and your book never quite rises above the noise.

Self-Doubt

You're not sure if self-doubt is the block, or structure, or just time — but something keeps you from the page. And you're tired of waiting to figure it out.

Here is the only difference

"The doubt, the blocks, the days where nothing comes — I feel every single one of those things too. Every working author does."

The difference is having a system that neutralizes them before they become walls. A system that recharges you when your energy runs low and gets you back to the page — within an hour — every time. That system is repeatable. It is transferable. It works. And now you can access it on demand.

The Story You Need to Hear First

She applied the same marketing system to a historic Lady Gaga album,
a QVC brand launch, and a self-published novel.
It worked every time.

I was a full-time attorney when I wrote my first book. No writing room, no sabbatical, no publishing contract — just an idea, a desk at work, a commute, and a voice recorder in my car. I wrote in the margins of my legal career, and I treated the book like a business asset from day one, because that's exactly what I knew it could be.

My first commercial book took three weeks to write. I executed a lean marketing plan and used smart strategy for publicity. Between publishing income and the consulting work those efforts unlocked, that first year I earned almost double my attorney salary.

While I worked and wrote alongside my career, the biggest benefit was stability. I'd spent years working for startups — good money when it lasted, brutal when it didn't. Publishing income smoothed the valleys. When COVID hit and I was laid off, self-published royalties replaced nearly half my lost income. Writing had given me something no employer could take away.

Before I became a full-time author, I'd spent over a decade running marketing campaigns for some of the biggest entertainment launches you know — including, as Executive Vice President of Digital Strategy at Lady Gaga's management company, running the digital marketing agency of record for the Born This Way album that went platinum in its first week, with 1.1 million copies sold. Only 24 other albums have done this in the 35-year history of the sales tracking chart.

Since then, I've launched a cosmetics brand from zero sales to QVC and made a book passed on by over a dozen agents a bestseller in under eighteen months — my debut novel, Black Girls Must Die Exhausted.

When I self-published, I applied the same marketing framework I'd used professionally. I knew who my reader was. I built social proof, prioritized the right assets, and ran the campaign. In eighteen months: 20,000 copies sold. Then, a pre-emptive four-book deal with HarperCollins. Since then: over 300,000 copies, a six-figure advance earned out twice, and books six and seven coming next year from the number one and number two publishers in the world.

The marketing system didn't change. Only the product did.
This system is what I teach.

"I have not always had the opportunity to teach. I have been under back-to-back deadlines. This is the system I used to write and publish five novels since 2021 — and the same one I used to sell 20,000 copies before anyone knew my name."

The Book Genius June Masterclass Recordings

What happened in the room

Writers who attended the June Masterclass live left having already started. One wrote 1,500 words the next morning. Another found clarity on an idea she'd been circling for two years. The session moved fast, went deep, and gave writers exactly what they needed to stop waiting and start. All of it — every session, every framework, every exercise — is in the recordings below.

30
Days of Writing Prompts
Your Daily Writing Structure
30 days of writing prompts aligned with the June curriculum. No accountability group required — the prompts keep you moving through your manuscript on your own schedule.
Also included

10 Helpful Hints for Writers — a curated set of practical writing insights drawn from Jayne's experience as a working author, delivered alongside your prompts.

What you will learn — the five sessions:

01
Session 1 · 45 minutes
Your 45-Minute Publishing Business MBA

Most aspiring authors have no idea how publishing actually works — or how much money is on the table. This session is your Publishing MBA in 45 minutes. You'll see a real author P&L, understand self-publishing vs. traditional, when to query agents vs. when to publish yourself, and how marketing determines whether your book earns or disappears. You'll leave knowing exactly how the publishing industry works and where your idea fits.

Topics include: commercial value of book ideas · income streams attached to publishing · how to evaluate your specific idea as a business asset
02
Session 2 · 45 minutes
What's an Idea Worth Writing?

Not every idea is worth your next year of life. This session teaches you how to qualify an idea worth writing — and how to tell the difference between an idea and a story. You'll leave with a clear sense of what you're writing and why it's the right project to commit to now.

Topics include: fiction vs. nonfiction · the Grumble (nonfiction) and the What If (fiction) · how to pressure-test your idea before you invest in it
03
Session 3 · 45 minutes
Story Architecture — How to Build a Book That Holds

This session gives you the structural framework that keeps a book from collapsing at the midpoint. Whether you're writing fiction or nonfiction, every book that works has the same underlying architecture. You'll leave with a working outline — not a vague plan, but an actual chapter-by-chapter structure you can write from.

Topics include: the three-act structure for fiction · the problem-solution arc for nonfiction · how to outline in a way that keeps you moving rather than boxing you in
04
Session 4 · 45 minutes
Writing to Finish — The System for Getting a First Draft Done

The reason most books don't get finished isn't talent or time — it's the absence of a system. This session gives you the exact workflow Jayne used to write her first novel in three weeks while working full-time as an attorney. Adapted for writers with real lives, real jobs, and real interruptions. You'll leave knowing exactly how to get your first draft done.

Topics include: writing in the margins of a full life · daily word count systems that work · how to get back on track after you fall off · the difference between drafting and editing mode
05
Session 5 · 45 minutes
Your Book as a Business — The Marketing Foundation

A first draft is the beginning, not the end. This session introduces the marketing foundation every author needs to build while they're still writing — so by the time the book is done, the audience already exists. You'll leave with a clear understanding of what to do next after you finish your draft, and why starting your marketing now (not later) is the single most important decision you can make.

Topics include: your book's value proposition · building your author platform from zero · what publishers look for now · the bridge from June into the July Marketing Masterclass
Bonus Session · Included
The Ethical Use of AI in Your Writing Practice

AI is changing what's possible for writers — but used carelessly, it can undermine the very thing that makes your writing worth reading: your voice. This bonus session gives you a clear, honest framework for using AI as a writing tool without compromising your creative work or your ownership of it.

Topics include: what AI can and can't do for your writing · prompts that help without replacing your voice · copyright and ownership considerations for authors

Common Questions

Everything you need to know.

Can I watch at my own pace?

Yes — completely. The recordings are on demand and you have lifetime access. Watch all five sessions in one sitting, or work through them one at a time over several weeks. There's no schedule, no cohort, and no deadline.

How long are the recordings?

Five sessions at approximately 45 minutes each, plus a 20-minute bonus session on the ethical use of AI in your writing practice. Approximately four hours of curriculum total.

Do I need to have a book idea to get value from this?

No. Session 2 is specifically designed to help you find and qualify an idea worth writing. If you already have one, it will help you pressure-test it and commit to it with confidence.

What are the 30 days of writing prompts?

A structured set of daily writing prompts aligned with the June curriculum — designed to keep you moving through your manuscript after you finish the recordings. They work on your own schedule with no group or accountability partner required.

What's the difference between the June standalone and the bundles?

The June standalone ($197) gives you the recordings and prompts only. The June + July Bundle ($350) adds the July live Masterclass on July 1 — saving $72 vs. buying both separately. The Full Summer Bundle ($497) covers all three months and saves $150. If you're even considering July, the bundle is the clear choice.

Is there community access or live interaction?

The June recordings are a standalone self-paced product — there's no community or live interaction included. Community access is available with the July Masterclass and bundle purchases.
